Pandrol, the global rail company, has supplied an Ultrasonic Rail Testing Kit to SBS Transit Ltd in Singapore, including manual and motorised inspection tools, which can be operated at up to 20km per hour.
Pandrol’s ultrasonic rail testing uses high pitched waves to identify defects in the rail. A full track inspection service provides an extensive report of the location, characteristics and the urgency of all defects.
SBS Transit are responsible for the maintenance of a number of Singapore metro lines and will use the equipment as part of their rail management and maintenance programme. Operators from SBS Transit were trained in the use of the equipment by Pandrol’s director of track control solutions, Gérard Nowak, along with development engineer, Louis Montoya, during a visit to Singapore.
“Pandrol hopes that this is the start of a long-term positive working relationship, we’ve had great feedback from the customer and can see a high level of opportunities in the APAC area to develop our track control equipment offering,” said Gérard Nowak, director of track control solutions at Pandrol.
