New underground certification for Hellermann Tyton 06 January 2014

Hellermann Tyton has received certification from Transport for London/London Underground Ltd (TfL/LUL) for new additions to its MBT-Series of stainless steel cable ties. At the same time, the company has re-certified existing products to simplify selection for contractors working for TfL.

New certificates have been issued for all of the Hellermann Tyton products registered on the TfL/LUL system as approved for use. The new additions to the MBT-Series range of metal ball-lock cable ties include new ultra heavy duty 12.3mm and 16mm wide ties. TfL/LUL certifications now cover inside and outside serrated cable ties, TT4000 and TT430 printers, printable TipTag cable route markers and TLFX heatshrink core markers plus the full range of MBT-Series stainless steel cable ties and the M-Boss Lite stainless steel cable marking system.

All products, from fixings, insulation and protection through to identification products, meet the stringent safety requirements of the rail system for low flammability, low-smoke, lox toxicity and halogen-free materials.

Hellermann Tyton business development manager for the mass transport industry Kevin Bunsfield says: “Having added to the MBT-Series, we took the opportunity not only to submit these products for TfL/LUL certification but also to update the certification of our complete range of products used in cable management on the underground system. Our products have been established for many years in the sector, being used extensively on projects such as the Jubilee Line extension, the Heathrow Express and the Docklands Light Railway. However, there have been changes to the range over the years that certification has been in place so we decided that reviewing and renewing certification for our whole suite of products would simplify product selection for contractors.”

To help contractors meet the requirement of TfL/LUL and to make it easier for them to verify the appropriate certification of products chosen for work on underground contracts, Hellermann Tyton has added links to each certificate on its website – where the certificates can be viewed or downloaded. All certified products also have separate Network Rail product acceptance approvals with PADS numbers, which can also be accessed via the website.
