The HEICO-LOCK® system was developed to counter the effects of dynamic loads and high vibration causing loosening of bolted joints by self-rotation. It consists of a pre-assembled pair of washers that have inclined cams on the inside and radial teeth on the opposite sides. When a bolt is tightened the external radial teeth embed themselves in an interlocking fashion with the respective mating surface. As the angle of the internal cams is greater than the angle of the thread pitch, any movement across the cams increases the pre-load force and effectively self-locks the bolt.
As an innovative addition to the HEICO-LOCK product group, the one piece HEICO-LOCK® Wedge Lock Nut combines the original HEICO-LOCK® Wedge Lock Washers with a flange nut. The riveting of the connection between the wedge lock washers and the flange nut creates a one piece design that removes the need for a separate washer, providing a reliable, faster and cost optimised bolt security solution. The HEICO-LOCK Wedge Lock Nut, available from M6 to M27, is supplied pre-assembled and provides the user with the clear benefit of always being in the correct locking position – particularly important if being installed and removed repeatedly, especially in hard to reach locations.
The HEICO-LOCK® Wheel Nut, a TÜV approved version of the wedge lock nut supplied in fine thread M20 x 1.5 and M22 x 1.5 variants, provides ideal protection for securing wheels against self-loosening even under the most adverse circumstances, high-speeds and demanding road conditions. Suitable for all common steel disc wheels, the wheel nut minimises the risk of accidents caused by loosening of wheels in the field of construction machinery, agricultural machinery, heavy goods or public service vehicles, and many more.
