TPO-free adhesives meet regulatory requirements 08 July 2025

Dymax, a leading manufacturer of fast-curing materials and equipment, is responding to increased market interest in sustainable adhesive solutions as well as changing regulatory requirements.

In view of the upcoming European Union regulatory changes regarding Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide (TPO) and in response to increasing concerns from end users worldwide, Dymax is expanding its range of TPO-free formulations. These have been developed to meet current safety standards and support long-term product planning.

The available TPO-free adhesives have been extensively tested and meet the performance and quality requirements that all Dymax products require. For medical device applications, the products meet, among other requirements, the biocompatibility requirements of ISO 10993-5 (cytotoxicity) and other relevant standards. Dymax's technical services team is available to advise manufacturers who wish to integrate the new formulations into existing production processes – both in validating existing processes and in developing new products. Dymax is expanding its portfolio of TPO-free light-curing materials to meet these requirements.

"Our commitment to continuously monitoring market developments and providing practical solutions enables us to provide our customers with forward-looking products," explains Michael Ford, head of business development at Dymax. "By introducing an expanded TPO-free portfolio early and continuously developing our product lines, we give our customers the confidence to continue working with Dymax materials – while meeting both regulatory requirements and increased safety needs."

Since every formulation change can raise new questions, Dymax offers its customers extensive technical and regulatory support in evaluating and introducing TPO-free alternatives.

Although regulatory pressure is currently primarily in the EU, Dymax's proactive approach enables timely transition and provides customers with peace of mind regarding product reliability, future standard compliance, and evolving consumer demands.

Interested companies are encouraged to contact Dymax technical consultants directly to discuss any questions regarding the transition of existing processes or product designs and to receive support in evaluating suitable solutions – both for current applications and long-term product strategies.
