When manufacturing the systems, auxiliary holes may need to be drilled in order to provide all the necessary channels. However, these should then be tightly resealed – especially given the extreme pressures that can occur in the units. Component specialist norelem now offers reliable sealing plugs for this purpose.
The sealing plugs from norelem function according to the pressure expansion principle, whereby a ball in the expansion sleeve serves as the expansion element. The sealing plugs have a serrated sleeve that expands as the ball is pressed in until the hole is sealed and anchored in the base material – creating a metallic seal that can withstand constant pressures of up to 448 bar without the need for additional sealing compounds. However, the sealing plugs can also be removed again if required.
Sealing plugs are mainly used for holes in fluid technology, e.g. automotive engineering, industry, as well as aerospace and machine tools, to prevent the escape of liquids or gases. norelem’s new sealing plugs are available in steel or stainless steel and in various sizes.
