Safety clutch for small torques 29 June 2023

The drive specialist ENEMAC from Kleinwallstadt offers a safety coupling for small torques in its product portfolio, with a torque range starting from 0.5Nm with the coupling type ECPD.

The torque limiter, consisting of a safety part with a release mechanism and an elastomer attachment, prevents overload damage to costly components in the drive train and compensates for axial, angular and lateral misalignments between the input and output shafts.

Available for disengagement torques between 0.5Nm and 2,000Nm, in 17 different sizes, the compact clutch can be used in a wide range of plant and mechanical engineering applications in a temperature range from -30°C to 90°C. The clamping hubs attached on both sides connect the shaft and coupling backlash-free and non-positively and can accommodate bores between 4mm and 90mm on the output side, as well as diameters between 5mm and 100mm on the motor side. Type ECPD can also be supplied with a keyway on request.

For demanding environments, ENEMAC also offers this safety coupling as a corrosion-protected variant ECPD_KS. For this purpose, the main components of the torque limiter are nitrocarburised or gas-nitrided and then oxidised. The built-in disc springs are coated and ball bearings are made of stainless steel. This makes the coupling type suitable for many outdoor applications and wherever moisture contamination is a problem.
