EFC International has worked with a commercial refrigeration manufacturer to provide a solution for attaching and supporting wire-rack shelves to sidewalls during the manufacturing process.
Originally the manufacturer was using threaded inserts to attach and support the shelving. However, this solution had inherent problems. EFC International therefore suggested replacing the threaded inserts with mid-panel nuts.
By using mid-panel nuts the manufacturer could eliminate spinning in the hole and the additional step of ‘masking’ with tape to cover the holes when shooting foam into the wall space – helping to improve productivity and reduce labour costs.
Additional benefits of the mid-panel nuts included a comparable piece price to threaded inserts; the ability to meet the necessary load bearing and pull-out requirements; and that they do not require any installation tools as they can be installed by hand or via automation.
