Hose clamping improvements 01 September 2022

EFC hose clamps, designed for hose clamping applications where space is restricted, enable strong, fast and reliable clamping with low profile designs. Here, EFC details how it assisted a customer to improve performance of outdoor applications with this product.

The customer, a manufacturer of various outdoor products, was using the ‘slotted band’ style worm fear hose clamps for exterior applications. However, this style of clamp was causing multiple issues. The clamp was cutting into or damaging the hose due to a long ‘tail’ being exposed. This created a safety risk and assembly line workers were frequently cutting their hands and also posed a risk to end users. The end product was had a repetitive requirement for clamp replacements, the manufacturer needed an alternate solution.

EFC International engineers introduced the customer to ‘embossed band’ style worm gear clamps, which are often known as the European style. The embossed band style of the new clamp provided the customer with a higher quality clamp, with better performance and longevity which ultimately resulted in cost savings. The removal of sharp edges and slots mean improved hose protection, as well as offering resistance to over-tightening damage to the hose due to better torque clamping force. Safety breeches were eliminated thanks to the smooth design of the embossed band clamps.
