HEICO-LOCK ring lock washers add security 14 February 2014

Here HEICO Befestigungstechnik GmbH, located in Ense-Niederense, Germany, explains how its HEICO-LOCK ring lock washers provide high-quality, user-friendly bolt securing for the most demanding applications and are ideal for repeated use.

The ring locking system on HEICO-LOCK ring lock washers guarantees that the two wedge lock washers are always fastened in the correct position with the wedge-shaped cams on the inside and the radial teeth on the outside. This means that the bolt locking system is always easy, safe, and quick to install, even for non-specialist users.

Design of the ring locking system

HEICO-LOCK ring lock washers are supplied pre-assembled. The ring locking system consists of a polyamide ring (PA) and the already familiar HEICO-LOCK wedge lock washers.

The wedge lock washers secure the bolted connections reliably and the ring permanently holds the two single washers together in the correct position (figure one).

They offer a proven system for securing bolts at high or low preloads and are especially suitable for dynamic loads, even when using lubricants. These washers are reusable with no reduction in quality or convenience. They are available in steel or stainless steel with a narrow or wide bearing surface.

HEICO LOCK ring lock washers are also suitable for use with high-tensile 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 bolts and their respective nuts.
