First use of fischer SensorBolts in radio tower 10 September 2024

The new fischer SensorBolts were installed for the first time on a 52m radio tower in Frauenkirchen. These high strength screws with an integrated force measurement and transmission technology allow the condition of the fastening points to be monitored remotely at any time. In pilot operation, the installed SensorBolts will collect data over the next few months.

"The special thing about this is that the mechanical properties of the screws are not changed by the sensor application," says Dr. Daniel Rill, responsible product manager at the fischer group of companies. "This means that they can be used in high strength pre-stressed areas without any restrictions."

The forces acting in the bolted connections can be measured precisely and permanently and monitored from a distance at any time. This is particularly advantageous for fastening points that are difficult to reach. Data from all the sensor-integrated products can be managed on a mobile device or via a web application.

The pilot project aims to increase the knowledge gained about how the screws behave in practice over longer periods of time. In general, the fischer Construction Monitoring solutions, a portforlio the SensorBolts now join, also serve to increase the maintenance efficiency of buildings and systems, as well as to increase their safety, reduce their downtime and extend their service life.
