Boresite – a new plasterboard solution 17 June 2025

Peter Brown, a chartered engineer within the aerospace industry, has introduced the patented Boresite heavy-duty wall fixing – an innovative no drill solution for fixing into plasterboard.

Installing a fixing into plasterboard can often be overly complex and the final performance can be disappointing, with the ability to remove the fixing and repair the wall also difficult and time-consuming. A common challenge when installing a fixing into plasterboard is the need to drill a hole, which can be a common failure point if the hole is made too big or put in the wrong position.

Boresite is a heavy-duty wall fixing that does not require a hole to be drilled, instead a simple 3mm x 10mm slot is required, which damages the wall less and is much easier to repair if the fixing has been positioned incorrectly or needs to be uninstalled. “The user just needs a Stanley knife or Jabsaw and a screwdriver,” underlines Peter. “There is also no need to drill a hole, which removes the need for changing over drill bits – helping to make the installation more efficient.”

By designing Boresite with a focus on ‘ease of installation’ and removing the need to drill a hole of a specific diameter, Peter was able to maximise the effective load area of the fixing, which then reduces the pressure exerted on the wall by the load and means higher loads can be supported – up to 35kg per fixing.

Boresite features a flat design and an elasticated hinge that pops the backplate of the Boresite upright within the wall for the user to install the screw. “After creating the slot, the user simply inserts Boresite through the slot and then screws through the guide hole on the outside of the wall – so the user knows where the locating hole on the bracket is within the wall,” explains Peter. “This makes it the perfect solution for tradespeople who use plasterboard fixings regularly, as it reduces installation time and therefore increases productivity. DIYers will also benefit due to the reduced level of skill required to successfully install Boresite and by removing the requirement for dedicated tooling.”

Peter adds: “The next step for Boresite is to partner with a distributor in order to get the product into the market and in the hands of end users. Once they see the capabilities of the fixing, and the speedy installation, Boresite will speak for itself.”
