NORMA celebrates 125th anniversary of ABA 08 September 2021

NORMA Group emerged from the merger of the Swedish ABA Group with the German company Rasmussen in 2006. Today, the brand's product portfolio includes high-quality steel clamps, clips and tools used primarily in the connection of pipe, process and hydraulic lines.

Allmänna Brandredskapsaffären E Bergström & Co, or ABA for short, was founded in Stockholm in 1896. In the beginning, ABA specialised in the production of general firefighting equipment. The company’s achievements include inventions such as a handheld fire hose with a flexible metal tube, mechanical fire ladders and special rescue ropes. Today, the ABA brand is particularly well-known for its robust hose clamps with the distinctive blue casing.

Dr Michael Schneider, CEO of NORMA Group said: “The ABA brand is synonymous for its outstanding performance under the most challenging conditions throughout the world. We are celebrating 125 successful and eventful years, during which ABA's product portfolio has continuously developed and prove to be very stable. I would like to express my particular gratitude to our employees, whose tireless efforts have made this possible. We are proud of 125 years of ABA.”

“Over the past 125 years, we have served a broad range of customers from various industries and countries,” says Ulrik Thelin, managing director of NORMA Group in Sweden. “I couldn't be happier to be able to celebrate this special anniversary together with my colleagues and our customers.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, NORMA Group is holding a lottery among ABA customers from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Italy. From autumn 2021 to spring 2022, customers will have the opportunity to win, among other things, a short trip for two to Gothenburg.
