HEICO has been able to significantly expand its capabilities regarding heat treatment of cold forged parts by setting up its own induction hardening facilities.
‘Inductive hardening’ or ‘surface hardening’ is a very precise process in which only individual areas of the component are hardened without the property of the part as a whole being changed. The process can be controlled very precisely, with subsequent metallographic and structural tests in our own in-house test laboratory offering HEICO customers full process control.
In addition to the complete production and hardening of cold forged parts, HEICO now offers inductive hardening of externally manufactured parts as a service. As a requirement, the hardened parts have to be made of a suitable material. Suitable materials are quenched and tempered steels with a carbon content of more than 0.3%.
