Secure locking connections 29 September 2022

Ganter is expanding its product range of indexing elements to include the lockable stainless steel indexing plunger, GN 814. The integrated closing mechanism protects against unauthorised or accidental operation.

The new GN 814 stainless steel lockable indexing plungers possess the same basic functions as its predecessors in the Otto Ganter GmbH & Co. KG range, but now with the addition of a locking function.

On most versions of the new product, a lock is integrated into the black plastic head. On types A and AK, the plunger pin is secured in the front position by turning the key 180 degrees before removing it. On types E and EK, the plunger pin can also be secured in the rear position, offering additional safety as the plunger is prevented from engaging. On all types of the new indexing plunger, the key is pulled out in the unlocked position to prevent unauthorised locking.

GN 814 also comes with two locking types. Lock type SC allows all indexing plungers in use to be operated with the same key, while lock type SU requires a different key for each indexing plunger. To prevent unauthorised disassembly or adjustment, the hex nut used for screwing the part is only accessible while it is unlocked and the head has been pulled back. Additionally, a lock nut is available which can be ordered with the AK or EK designations.
