Recycled high-performance adhesive 28 September 2022

tesa, manufacturer of adhesive tapes and self-adhesive system solutions, is launching another packaging tape designed for the food and beverage industry, as well as pharmaceutical sectors. Through this new adhesive, the company expands its portfolio of high-performance packaging tapes designed with recycled materials and bio-based raw material.

The new tesa® 60412 focuses on the company’s environmental aims, as the product includes a backing with 70% post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET and a water-based acrylic adhesive system.

With elevated tear resistance, the company states tesa® 60412 is comparable to PVC or biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) tapes. The new tape is suitable for both manual and automatic dispensers. The product also offers noise reduction as it is near silent in use. Additionally, the production process is solvent-free and the packaging tape is certified according to INGEDE Method 12. tesa® 60412 is available in transparent or, on request, in brown and white versions.

"The development of products that help promote sustainability is a strategically important goal for tesa. Our new tesa® 60412 PET packaging tape was therefore developed in a way that reduces environmental pollution as much as possible and, at the same time, guarantees high performance. By choosing a more sustainable packaging tape, our customers can get one step closer to their goals,” says Andreas Walkembach, head of industrial trade and converting Europe at tesa.
