Productive hole making in less time 10 October 2022

Walter has added to its range of carbide drills, the new DC165 Advance, which has been designed for hydraulic manufacturers, automotive suppliers and general mechanical engineering.

As well as the standard range, the new DC165 Advance solid carbide drill can be designed as a special tool. The drill is designed with straight flutes which, Walter Tools insists, makes the product suitable for special tool production as potential for warping distortion at the dimensional transition is eliminated.

The polished flutes on the new drill improve chip removal while minimising build-up on the cutting edge. Walter states this is advantageous when machining aluminium, which is the drill’s primary application, in addition to machining cast iron workpieces. Four lands aid guidance of the DC165, offering precise roundness, straightness of the bore and high surface quality. Walter offers the DC165 drill as a special product up to 12xD.
