Press-in insert with mechanical anchoring 10 July 2013

Specialising in fastening applications for metal sheets and sections, solid parts and wood, as well as plastics and composite materials, Specialinsert has introduced the Keep-Nut insert.

Specialinsert says that the Keep-Nut is a revolutionary press-in insert with mechanical anchoring to create threaded seats on thin panels made of marble, granite or other stones, and can also be used in composites, carbon, corian, HPL, glass and other compact materials.

Keep-Nut is manufactured in stainless steel and it’s made of a threaded bush with a set of elastic crowns and a plastic ring for holding the complete parts. The Keep-Nut comes in different lengths, with or without flange, to fit to several different panel thicknesses. Specialinsert points out that the Keep-Nut can be easily installed as the user simply needs to drill the material with the correct hole diameter and press-in the insert. Additionally it can be customised with different versions and sizes, in order to fit customer needs.

The assembly by pressure is fast and easy and it doesn’t require any additional resins or adhesives. The Keep-Nut also enables internal assembly without external dimension, facilitating the handling and storage of materials. In use the elastic crowns are solicited by axial force, acting radially against the hole walls due to the bending and pressure - avoiding the leakage of the system.

Moreover the not-through threading of the internal bush assures secure fastening while eliminating the risk of extraction as a result of over penetration of the screw thread.

Specialinsert points out that lab tests have ensured high pull-out strength performances, up to 2,500N on marble panels and 4,800N on HPL, making the Keep-Nut suitable for the most demanding conditions of applications.

The Keep-Nut insert is specifically developed for ventilated facades, wall-coverings, décor and interiors, furniture, as well as kitchen and sanitary elements fastening.
