Delivering creativity and service 05 October 2016

Founded in 1973 with the intent to commercialise rivets and screws, Rivit Srl has since created production units dedicated to hardware and the design and implementation of tools.

Rivit specialises in rapid fastening systems to join sheet metal in the assembly phase. Its product range includes blind rivets, rivet nuts, welding studs, self-clinching, and blind bolts, as well as the related tools for their installation, such as riveters for blind rivets and rivet nuts, presses for self-clinching, and capacitor discharge stud welders.

In addition to its products, Rivit also offers a complete back office system – providing advanced technical support to customers to find out the best solution to any single application – as well as an after sales service to ensure continuous assistance with any difficulties.

Rivit focuses its business on three main divisions: Metal industry; building, roofing and metal roofing; as well as hardware retailers. Whilst Italy accounts for 60% of the company’s turnover it is still present in more than 55 countries including the whole of Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America and Asia – with particular attention being paid to the Asian market where Rivit India was created in 2011.

Rivit is also considering strategic markets and emerging countries such as India, the Middle East, Africa and the whole of Latin America. “At least for the next two years these areas will need our fastenings due to the increasing use of lightweight materials, like aluminium and carbon, which are allergic to welding but accept riveting,” explains Rivit. “We also want to strengthen our presence in the field of light carpentry, where our products can be used for many applications.”

2016 also saw the company go through a technological renewal, with it introducing a new IT system, new portal and new CRM system. This helps ensure that the company is ready to face further international expansion in the coming years.

Rivit also continually renews its sales programme with new product lines, new solutions and new tools for installation. A complete and updated programme is displayed online, as well as on the company’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

“It is necessary to constantly invest in research and development and present new solutions to the market, to be more and more the reference leader in the fastener market,” comments Rivit. “We are constantly in contact with customers during production, so as to understand what their needs are, and often they are the ones that suggest improvements on existing products or ideas for new products, as a result of changing application requirements.”

Rivit reports that the manufacturing market in the last two years has had a satisfactory recovery and there are many companies that have begun to export again, which is vital as a company in order to grow.

Even with competition from Asian manufacturers there is still an opportunity to grow. “Today Asian manufacturers are becoming less competitive, and there is a tendency in the market for customers to return to buying products in the customer’s country of origin,” points out Rivit. “Plus, China is registering a growth in labour costs, which means an increase in the prices of products.”

For Rivit the key to growth is to continue to offer a service that guarantees both prompt answers and highly specialised professional assistance in the field of mechanical fasteners. “We have more creativity and we are faster (and less bureaucratic) when a customer is in the need to find a solution,” concludes Rivit. “We work day and night to find a way to please our customers.”
